Cake Poker Review
Cake Poker is a well promoted, emerging poker room with many new players signing up daily. Cake Poker’s network as a whole is also consistently growing with many new rooms starting up and even other quality rooms such as Doyle’s Room joining the network. It looks as though Cake will be a competitor in the online poker industry for years to come. There are good low limit hold’em and Omaha cash games, as well frequent, high quality, well run tournaments. The competition is fairly soft and the initial deposit bonus is very lucrative and easy to clear. To get the $600 Welcome Bonus, use Cake Poker Bonus Code 110CAKE.
Cake Poker Tournaments
Cake Poker has new multi-table tournaments starting every fifteen minutes, which means you should be able to find a tournament to your liking at any time of the day. Cake runs a lot of re-buy/add-on tournaments and there are usually a ton of re-buys. These tournaments have good value because there are people who just keep rebuying and adding to the pot without a real chance of cashing in the tournament. Most of the tournaments are of the low buy-in variety, but you can find up to $50 tournaments consistently throughout the day. Cake also has weekly $100K and monthly $250K tournaments which count towards Card Player’s online player of the year standings.
Sit and go tournaments take a while to fill up at Cake and you the majority of tournaments that run are $25 and under. Although, now that Cake has added the double-up sit and go’s you can often find a bunch of double-up’s running for $50 and even sometimes for $100. Cake is primarily a cash game and multi-table tournaments card room, but the sit and go action is starting to pick up and it won’t be long before Cake has higher buy-in games running frequently.
Cash Games
The low limit traffic for hold’em and Omaha ring games is pretty solid. There are always plenty of games going with blinds $2/$4 and lower for both hold’em and Omaha. That’s not to say big games don’t sometimes take place because it is not uncommon to see a game or two being played in the $5/$10 to $20/$40 range. Cake also offers micro limits of $0.02/$0.04 which are always filled in both hold’em and Omaha ring games.
Competition
The competition at Cake Poker has improved since Cake was just starting out, but it is still a little bit below average. You can no longer find 60% flop percentages, but there are still many tables with 30% of the players to the flop.
Cake Poker Software
The software isn’t fancy, but it is very functional with smooth game play. Cake has 20 3-d avatars that you can choose from, all of which are fairly realistic. The software is constantly being updated and any problems with lag or other issues from the early days have since been fixed.
Support
Cake Poker offers an extensive FAQ section where you can find the answers to the majority of your questions, as well as email support. The support team is usually quick to respond with useful information, but hopefully they will add a phone number soon in case of emergency.
